This guide is designed to provide direction to disability service providers in their support of young people with intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorder who show sexualised behaviours of concern.
The course has a focus on upholding the rights of people with disability and ensuring people live their best life. It breaks down key principles the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework and is underpinned by human rights principles. The course acknowledges that a commitment to the reduction of restrictive practices and applying principles of positive behaviour support are critical to every support worker's role.
This training teaches the principles of key word sign and gesture, who it can be used with and how it can be used alongside other ways of communicating. You will understand how key word sign is different to Auslan.
