The Disability Worker Registration Board of Victoria may develop accreditation standards about the assessment of:
- programs of study and education providers to determine whether they meet approved accreditation standards
- authorities in other jurisdictions who conduct examinations or accredit programs of study relevant to the registration of disability workers
- overseas qualified disability workers whose qualifications do not meet approved accreditation standards to decide if they have the knowledge, skills and attributes necessary to be registered as a disability worker in Victoria.
How we will develop accreditation standards
The Board will be in place prior to the full commencement of the scheme which begins on 1 July 2020. It will consult widely with the disability sector and people with disability, their families and carers as well as the education sector in developing accreditation standards.
Any proposed standard that relates to qualifications, supervised practice, examinations for registration, the scope of practice of registered disability workers or that may adversely impact on the recruitment or supply of the disability workforce must be approved by the Minister.
Approved accreditation standards will be published on this website and will take effect on the day they are published, unless a later date is specified. Approved programs of study that meet approved accreditation standards (and the education providers that provide those programs of study) will also be published on this website.
